Lightly grilling the avocado first deepens the flavor. Serve this with grilled tortillas or flatbread, fish, chicken, beef or pork.
Grill the lime halves at the same time for a little bit more char flavor. Plus, you'll get more juice from the warm grilled lime.
Makes about 2 cups (500 ml)
- 4 ripe avocados, halved and pitted
- 2 jalapeno peppers, seeded and finely diced
- 1 small red onion, finely diced
- ¼ cup chopped fresh cilantro
- Juice of 1 lime (or to taste)
- Prepare a hot fire in your grill.
- Grill avocados, cut side down, for 2 to 3 minutes, or until you have good grill marks ; peel and cut into chunks.
- In a bowl, mash together avocados, jalapeno, red onion, cilantro and lime juice.
- Serve immediately.
