These spice cookies loaded with raisins and walnuts really do appeal to all generations. Sour cream adds a wonderful, unusual flair.
About 8 dozens
- ½ cup butter or margarine, softened
- ¾ cup sugar
- 3 eggs
- 1 cup molasses
- 1 cup sour cream
- 3½ cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons ground ginger
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon each ground allspice,cinnamon and nutmeg
- 1½ cups raisins
- 1½ cups chopped walnuts
- In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar ; add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition ; beat in molasses and sour cream.
- Combine flour, ginger, baking soda, allspice, cinnamon and nutmeg ; gradually add to the creamed mixture.
- Stir in raisins and walnuts ; drop by tablespoonfuls 2 in. apart onto greased baking sheets.
- Bake at 375F for 10-12 minutes or until edges begin to brown ; remove to wire racks to cool.
