- ½ cup butter, softened
- 2 teaspoons prepared mustard
- 12 slices white bread
- 6 slices swiss cheese, cut in half
- 6 slices cooked ham
- 3 eggs, beaten
- One-third cup milk
- Confectioners' sugar and cherry preserves
- In a small bowl beat together the butter and mustard until well blended.
- Spread on one side of each slice of bread.
- For each sandwich, top one slice of bread with half a slice of cheese, one slice of ham, half a slice of cheese, and a second slice of bread, butter-side down.
- In a medium bowl beat together the eggs and milk.
- Dip each sandwich into the egg mixture.
- Brown both sides of the sandwich on a lightly buttered griddle.
- Place on a cookie sheet and bake in a 425F (210C) oven for 8 to 10 minutes.
- Slice each sandwich in half, sprinkle with confectioners' sugar, and top with preserves.
