Fudgy brownies

 


Makes 12 brownies

  • 4 squares (1 ounce each) unsweetened chocolate, coarsely chopped
  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • 1¼ cups sugar
  • 3 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup walnuts, chopped
  1. Melt together chocolate and butter in top of doubleboiler over hot water ; cool for 15 minutes.
  2. Preheat oven to 350F ; line 9 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan with aluminium foil and grease foil.
  3. Stir sugar into chocolate mixture ; stir in eggs and vanilla.
  4. Stir in flour until blended ; pour into prepared pan, spreading evenly and sprinkle with walnuts.
  5. Bake in preheated oven for 30 minutes ; cool completely in pan on wire rack.
  6. Refrigerate 30 minutes for easier cutting ; invert onto cutting surface.
  7. Peel off foil ; turn over.
  8. Cut into squares.
