Pear Tart Tatin (Holiday Menus for Family)

8 servings

  • 2 tablespoon margarine or butter
  • ½ cup packed brown sugar
  • 6 medium pears or tart apples, peeled, cored and cut into eighths
  • ½ package (17-ounce size) frozen puff pastry, thawed
  1. Heat margarine and brown sugar in 10-inch oven-proof skillet over medium heat, stirring constantly, until melted.
  2. Stir in pears ; cook 20 to 25 minutes, stirring frequently, until syrup thickens, remove from heat.
  3. Used two forks and arrange pear slices overlapping in a pinwheel pattern.
  4. Heat oven to 400F.
  5. Roll pastry into 10½-inch round on lightly floured surface ; fold pastry into fourths, cut slits so steam can escape.
  6. Place over pears in skillet and unfold ; carefully tuck edge down around pears.
  7. Bake 15 to 20 minutes or until pastry is brown ; let stand 5 minutes and invert onto heatproof serving plate.
BON APPÉTIT
