- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup margarine or butter, softened
- ½ cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 teaspoon almond extract
- 1 egg
- 3½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- Pinch of salt
- ½ cup semisweet chocolate chips
- ½ cup chopped nuts
- Mix sugar, margarine, milk, vanilla, alomond extract and egg in a large bowl ; stir in flour, baking soda and salt, cover and refrigerate at least 4 hours.
- Heat oven to 375F.
- For each cookie, shape 1 teaspoon dough into 4-in. rope. (For smooth, even ropes, roll back and forth on sugared surface.)
- Place on ungreased cookie sheet and bake 9 to 12 minutes or until set and very light brown ; remove from cookie sheet, cool on a wire rack.
- Heat chocolate chips until melted ; dip ends of cookies into chocolate, then into nuts.
- Place cookies on waxed paper ; let stand about 10 minutes or until chocolate is set.
