America's favorite oatmeal cookie.
Original oatmeal raisin cookies
- ½ cup butter or margarine, softened
- ¾ cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ¾ cup all purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1½ cups quick-cooking rolled oats
- ½ cup raisins
- ½ cup chopped walnuts
- Preheat oven to 375F (190C).
- Cream butter and sugars until light and fluffy.
- Beat in egg and vanilla.
- Blend in remaining ingrédients to make a soft dough.
- Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheets.
- Bake 7 to 10 minutes until edges are golden brown.
- Cool 1 minute, then transfer cookies to cooling rack.
