Soup "Beef with Asian Flavors"

 


                Five-spice is a spice blend originating from China. It includes: Sichuan pepper, star anise, cinnamon, clove and fennel.

For 6 servings

  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 15 ml vegetable oil
  • 1 red bell pepper, seeded and minced
  • 16 cherry tomatoes, quartered
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 liter beef broth
  • 45 ml soy sauce
  • 30 ml nuoc-mâm fish sauce
  • 5 ml five-spice
  • 5 ml sugar
  • 2 portions instant noodles
  • 1 sirloin steak, thinly sliced
  • 125 ml fresh coriander

  1. In a large saucepan, sauté the onion in the oil for 2 to 3 minutes; add pepper, tomatoes and garlic.
  2. Continue cooking 4 to 5 minutes; pour in the beef broth and add the soy sauce, nuoc-mâm sauce, five-spice and sugar.
  3. Simmer for 15 minutes over low heat; add instant noodles and steak slices.
  4. Remove from fire ; leave to rest for 5 minutes and serve the soup garnished with a few coriander leaves.
