Bourbon balls (Holidays menus for the family)

Bourbon balls are especially nice for busy people, as the cookies don't need to be baked and can be prepared before the holiday crush begins. In fact, the longer they sit, the better the flavor! If you like, you can substitute brandy or rum for the bourbon.

About 5 dozen candies

  • 3 cups finely crushed vanilla wafers (about 75)
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 cup finely chopped pecans or walnuts
  • ¼ cup cocoa
  • ½ cup bourbon
  • ¼ cup light corn syrup
  • Granulated or powdered sugar
  1. Mix crushed wafers, powdered sugar, pecans and cocoa in large bowl ; stir in bourbon and corn syrup.
  2. Shape mixture into 1-inch balls ; roll in granulated sugar.
  3. Cover tightly and refrigerate several days before serving.
***Use a food processor to crush the vanilla wafers quickly or purchase packaged vanilla wafer crumbs.

BON APPÉTIT
