Pizza dip (Appetizers)

 


Makes 16 servings (2 tablespoons dip and 5 chips each)

  • 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
  • ½ cup pizza sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • ½ cup chopped pepperoni
  • ¼ cup sliced ripe olives, drained
  • ¼ cup finely diced red bell pepper
  • 5 medium green onions, sliced
  • ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ¼ cup shredded fresh basil leaves
  • Colored tortilla chips or French baguette bread slices
  1. In a small bowl, mix cream cheese, pizza sauce and garlic.
  2. On 12-inch round ovenproof serving plate, spread mixture in thin layer.
  3. Top with pepperoni, olives, bell pepper and onions ; sprinkle with mozzarella cheese.
  4. Set oven control to broil ; broil with top about 4 inches from heat 1 to 2 minutes or until mozzarella cheese is melted.
  5. Sprinkle with basil.
  6. Serve immediately with tortilla chips.
Note : To make ahead, assemble this dip on a pretty ovenproof platter up to 1 day before serving. Cover tightly with plastic wrap and store in the refrigerator. Broil as directed.
